I've been reading back thru postings and it looks like there was a core of enthusiasts getting the show up and running.Organising the show and stimulating interest. Considering that at present there is absolutely no life here at all despite efforts from one or two to get some response I would conclude that the people who set it up are long gone. Would this be true?Is there actually anyone in charge of this forum? Anyone with any authority? Anyone who can do anything? It's like an empty spacecraft drifting in space with it's original purpose and destination long forgotten... Is there a future? What kind of fuel is needed to propel this craft onward?

Well, this site was started several years ago, but was soon abandoned. Thanks to mahayana, pinsk, namaste and a few others, there has been a rebirth of this site, but it still remains fairly quiet around here. Right now, mahayana has admin capabilities. I would post here more, but I stay pretty busy. I check in to read almost every day.

Glad you're asking questions, KJ. It's a free-for-all, admittedly like one of those empty "Bermuda Triange" ships at times.
I emailed 30 or 40 recent members after the site updated last, but only a few regular posters returned.
Getting people who join to post is one major problem, as musicians for the most part would rather play than talk. I figure they read through what catches their interest, maybe click on links that take them other places.
Any ideas you have to improve the place are welcome.

Cheers Mahayana......yes I'd rather play than talk also...but being connected to a forum like this and trying to post on a regular basis and to tune in as a habit has helped me keep at the (mostly enjoyable)struggle to become a better guitarist. It's all solo stuff that I do .With jazz guitar I'm pretty isolated so it's good to have some kind of stimulation on a regular basis. My guess is that there are many in similar situations..that is..working away at the complexities mostly on their own. Out of 300 members I wonder how many play with others.

Cheers, morjaz.
You might click on "members" and look through the pages. I'd guess nearly everyone who ever joined is an intermediate level or better guitarist. Learning jazz is a challenging project for most, and getting your buddies that don't use those odd chords to play along is another problem. I'm amazed at how many great guitarists shun the genre.
Then again, once you have a few sets down, all you need to add is an average bass player and a drummer with hi-hats and brushes to have a jazzgroup.

I get what you ate saying.... I also face the challenge of getting other guitarists or musicians to throw in a 7th chord every now and then when we jamming, but I have to say jazz has opened up a world of new horizons for me, and I recommend the genre to any one who is open minded and not scared to try something new.
