I'm still thinking of putting the 33 Mickey Baker chords in here, probably in their own thread.
It's funny that we don't have a Jazz Chords section, though there are several discussions in Theory, and elsewhere. Of course, most of the chords on the board are in the arrangements we've posted.
There isn't an easy way to develop a jazz chord "vocabulary" but we all have one. MB is a way to move from beginner to intermediate, though as BobD noted it takes some work.

Hey, KJ.
That's a stretchy one! The easiest way to write that would be
XXX743 or
XXXDEbG
But I agree, we need an easy way to put in the picture diagrams!
(I'd play this voicing XX 12 88X )

It does look interesting, may take a while to play through these. You might explain a little more how the forms are used in the lessons that follow...maybe post an example?

Sorry... I'll do that again.The way I set it out changed when I posted. Lesson 2 xxx321(Bbm) sustain the 2and 1 while moving 3 to 5 xx3111(Fm) sustain the 111,move 3 to 5 xx3211(Fmaj) sustain 211,move 3 to 5 xxx331(Bbmaj) sust.31,other3 to5 these forms to be practised up and down the board.
The fingers have to stretch out in these chords. With practise it gets better.

I'll have to practice these moving down the neck (towards tuners)! I can play them all at position 10, but little finger misses the stretch by about 1/2" at position one. Leave it to Mickey to start book 2 with impossible stuff, just like book 1, hah! Thanks for this one, KJ. I like it. P.S.I'm really glad you're posting musical ideas here. It's not easy because, as you notice, what appears in your reply box is not what appears after you post. Next time you draw a chord or tab, try the "preview" button next to submit. It shows (almost) how things will look in the thread. Scroll down from there and another box is ready for more modifications. I sometimes "dance" in preview quite a while before I leave a post with a homemade diagram.

yes....Mickey does say to start up at the 10th or thereabouts,if playing down by the tuners is too difficult at first

Based on #22 above, I'd guess that the exercises follow combining sets of the other 14 "upper partial" forms?
These make interesting voicings, placing the extended notes within the triads. Also great for pinkie dexterity and refreshing the knowledge of notes and little chords in the upper positions on the high strings.
Anybody else try these? They make your left hand "hurt so good."

Well, KJ.
I know it's only two days later, but would you consider posting lesson 3?
I've been playing the 18 forms in lesson one, some where shown, but most way up the neck. This will take awhile to be able to play them everywhere (I can tell).
Lesson 2 (adding "inside" 9ths with the pinky to Cm, Gm, Gmaj, Cmaj forms) is going well, all down to 5th position or better.
So, what's next?
