I agree with you, Prof. But the fact is a lot of guitar players never took a piano lesson, and don't read very well. They can play in all keys (that's the nature of the guitar) but can't read the notes in the flat keys. Everybody starts out playing in C, G, D, A and E (and those are the keys most guitar books are written in) so even some fine guitar players need to learn the other half of the circle of fifths when they want to read horn music written in Bb or Eb. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with you for wanting others to read better, they'd like it, too. Have you checked this link Robert Denman posted in improvisation? personal.nbnet.nb.ca/hansen/CharlieThat site has very good musical examples, without any tab.

I don't know Prof. There were a lot of pro players at one time who were self-taught and couldn't read music. Also, one of my rules is to try not to use the word "should" in my conversations. Not a jab, but I still maintain the purpose of the forum is to share our musical knowledge. I don't think it's fair to penalize those players who happen to use tab. It's the end result that is important.

I tried a couple of pics and couldn't get them in from the upload page. Hi jazzalta! You could send me one of your pics just to try if I can post it from my space.
