Hey, people. I've been studying what's possible, now that the responsibility for this place is ours. Any ideas? Things you like or don't like? My ears are open for comments and suggestions. Your wish is my command, hah!

Guests (I see six of you now), it's OK to "register" just to make one comment. No hassles, promise!
If you ever belonged here, check Members and see if you still do. Sorry, if members is confusing, it has two alphabetical sections and 9 pages now. Another thing to straighten out if we can.
I really am happy to see you all here, hope you get one good thing you can use in your playing. Gotta go to work now, "Ah'll be bock."

as a newbie i just want to say that i felt home here from the very first minute. this board is a meeting place of many friendly and helpful people who have one thing in common: their love for playing jazz guitar. so in my opinion the senior members should decide what has to be done to give this jazz guitar forum a long, long future. kawe

Hi guys. One addition I think would be nice is to have a page (probable hosted somewhere else as this won't support it) that we can upload documents to so anyone in the club can download them. For example I have a document that has all the forms of major, harmonic minor, and melodic minor along with when to use what. The site can be posted here, then you download it from there. Hope that makes sence. I should be able to host it with no problem. This is I think what Shawn was doing at the old/new site. Just an idea.

Sounds great, pinsk. Start a thread at references and post the link and an explanation.
The links always impressed me here. This is a great place to find other places. A couple that I really like are chordhouse (easy page has dropdowns to see chord diagrams for hundreds of altered chords, various forms), and the place JA just linked, Jazz-Charts, with hundreds of Heads for standards.

Start a thread at references and post the link and an explanation. just an idea: should we make this thread only accessible when logged in (for members)?

Well, the Resource Page has been up for 6 months now. Thanks, pinsk.
Any more ideas for additions, improvements?

I'd still like to see an off-topic forum, so we can get to know each other and just BS for fun. But I know that comes with it's own can of worms.

I'm fine with starting an off-topic category or section, if everybody is agreeable. Guess my preference would be to put it at the bottom of the board. How does that sound to you?
You may have noticed that I'm getting into the Admin software more lately. We can add or edit (yikes!), move stuff around...but I still want to talk about things first. So, your imput and feedback is solicited (and welcome, too). PM if you don't want to post about a concern.
thanks.

Good idea M. Most forums have them. It might have to be moderated carefully tho re no politics, religion, or long ramblings that bash companies, people, that kind of thing.

I wouldn't even limit the topics, though the first sticky would be the standard "courtesy and respect" speech.
Next would be links to forums specifically about politics, religion, other hot-button subjects. I participate on several of these myself. Hearing different views than your own is educational rather than threatening, with a proper attitude.
Inappropriate posts are always subject to being deleted, but I've seen only a very few here, ever.

If it fails miserably, you can always blame me.... ...everybody else does.

....Hearing different views than your own is educational rather than threatening, with a proper attitude... Yeah, I guess you're right. I think the operative words here are "proper attitude." I've read some real doozies on other forums that were downright rude and arrogant.
