I have recently purchase a Epiphone Regent, the stock pickup sounded like crap, I replace it with a Kent Armstrong neck mounted HJGN-2GD (made in Korea) that improve the sound a bit, but I am not satisfier yet, I am now looking fore an floating Gibson Johnny Smith PU but I cant find them any were I have been looking every where, do you know where I can find one, or some one like, I prefer the PU in gold an with adjustable poles Thank www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=10&CollectionID=1

I just know a guitar player, who's called Johnny Smith. Perhaps the pickup is named after him.

Bartolini seems to make a JS style pickup. It's called "5J". But I've seen it only in black.
PS: By the way: Welcome to the board, adrian480!!

You might try to get a real Kent Armstrong pick-up rather than the Korean one. I know that the Benedetto floating pickups sound great, but I'm not sure if Benedetto makes them or not. You can also try the different pickup maker's sites, like Seymore Duncan, Lindy Fralin, Rio Grande, Lace, etc. Also, you should be able to order a Gibson floating mini-humbucker from a Gibson Dealer.

www.archtop.com sells vintage JS pickups when they find them (expensive I am sure) and all of the old DeArmond stuff too. They sell the "real" Kent Armstrong pickups and have a full stock of all models. The Benedetto pickups used to be made by Kent, but are now wound by SD I think. I have read conflicting opinions on the quality compared to the Kent Armstrongs, but have not heard them myself.
