I notice that a year ago I wondered if there was anyone in charge of the forum.....it really doesn't seem that there is.Other forums seem to chug along o.k. ........but this one seems just about dead.Pity......because it used to be a fun place...and it defintely improved my knowledge of jazz guitar. Anyway......thanks to Jazzalta/Namaste,Professor,and Mahayana.........you guys really brought my understanding of jazz on a lot.I hope youre all doing well and continuing to enjoy good music

i'm not sure, i found it about a week ago googling around for a good jazz guitar reference, and i'm finding the past posts pretty useful to trawl through and have a look at what's here. it wasn't till i joined that i realised there wasn't a whole lot happening...
i don't really have a lot to contribute (don't have any books to post heads from, etc) so i can't really do much at this stage to keep the site alive... props to all the people who have built such a resource though, i appreciate it!

Hey, morjaz (kiwijohn) and womble,
I'd say that the forum's just in a quiet phase, but that can change at any point.
It does seem to work better when you get more feedback, maybe there's a critical number of active members needed to get lots of posts? How many would you like? 10 a day or more?
What threads have you liked here?
peace.

I'd be willing to host a chord melody mini-forum if there is interest.

Hey Mahayana...I guess you're settled in on your East Texas 5 acres.Hope it's all good and that there is some good music happening at Texarkana. As regards the ebb and flow of this forum and, using a comparison,it seems that over on the YJGG guitar forum there is a core of up to a dozen members that really know their subject...shining the light on different areas of playing. An interesting thing is that when new musicians are asking questions...like on how to get moving on this jazz guitar thing. ..the responses are always different. .even tho' the theory and practise advice is usually the same. :)So it's going over the same ground..but in new and refreshing ways!

So why doesn’t everyone take the link to this site and place it in posts on other forums, to attract some new blood?
I have started to do that – lets see if we can attract some interest as this site has potential!
Lets see if we can make 2007 a bumper year at 'The Jazz Forum'.
Happy NY to all from Down-Under.
