Lets not forget Peter Frampton; some of his soloing soundsclike bop to me. I dont think it was reissued on CD but there was an excellent Monk tribute album from the 80s called "Thats The Way I Feel Now". Frampton does Monk's "Working" I believe and it rocks.

i play very aggrssive mathy kinda punk and we use sevenths, minor ninths, thirteenths....you knam it really. the bass is the key to outlining when the distortion is thick. you have to dial down on it (the distortion) but i have found a nice nitch where i can play the bigger chords and still chunk.
i use "jazz chords" all the time.
