mine: high E: ~ 1,5 cm (inch?)
low E : ~ 2 cm
This is the measure with the strings depressed at the 1st fret.
Do you prefer higher/lower settings? Why?

Kawe,
I'm sure you mean millimeters, not centimeters. Normally, action is checked at the 12th fret without the strings depressed. 2mm on the low E and 1.6mm on the high E will provide a nice sleek action for me. For some guitars, that is too low, you have to set it for each individual guitar, and what you use it for.

...but then again, 1.5 centimeters would work nicely for a square-neck Dobro. ;D

Just had my frets worked on and it is at 3/64 on the high E and 4/64 on the low (at 12th fret) with out any Buzz. And I play pretty hard.  |
