Can anyone think of a song by any jazz artist which isn't based around any chords or scales... like Allan Holdsworth- Michelle, for instance?

...well no of course not..I dont get it ?
How can you possibly NOT have a song or tune which isn't based around chords. Chords are instruments of harmony.
Without harmony you dont have music.
Or am I one of those old fashioned dated players who cant stand listening to anything that even sounds remotely enharmonic or dischordant. ....you bet !!
I've had some players try to "educate" me on the "merits" of outside and "out there" type sounds.
