Anybody out there playing jazz with acoustic instruments? If so, what do you have and how successful have you been? I use a nylon string as well as my hollow body. Plus, I have a steel string that I use once in a while for jazz influenced country tunes.

Hey, JA.
You asked some good questions. I've always played acoustic, mainly fingerstyle. I don't own a classical with nylon strings at present, but I started out with one, did the F.Noad lessons. Would like to play your new one, it has 14 fret clear neck and cut-out, right? How is the action? Always liked the tones available with nylons, ease of bends...it's a different sound than steel. Do you see any disadvantages?
Success is a difficult concept...I play unplugged most of the time, on a J45 Gibson, an old acoustic f-hole archtop Harmony, and a little acoustic-electric Takamine. They all have narrow necks, correct intonation, action is best on the Takamine.
I also have a Washburn copy of a Stratocaster (Grover Jackson model) for rock, but it doesn't get played much. Takes a lighter touch to play jazz on than the guitars I play every day.
What I really prefer in acoustics (versus electrics) is clearer harmonics and all the warm overtones.
