Hi to all
I went to a John Scofield concert last week. He played with the a trio, that made his latest live recording cd, Enroute.
His guitar, the Ibanez ,AS 200, he has played forever was on the stage along with his pedal board, since the show hadn't started yet I walked up to the stage from my seats halfway back on the left. Basically tha same thing you can see on his web cite, including the Boomerang. I was hoping for a few tastfully applied effects now and then.
He had an old Vox 30 amp, with the V was missing. When he came out he was carrying an old faded Gibson ES cherry 335, without a pickguard and no pickup covers. It was scratched, faded, and smudged, but what a tone. He played that guitar the whole evening.
What an amazing player, and very animated as well. See him if you get a chance, it will be well worth the effort.
Before I went back to my seat, where my wife was patiently waitiing, I asked the girl who was with the auditorium staff if the two of the seats in the front row were occupied. She asked the others and they said no one had been to the seats, she said I could take a chance. I went and got my wife, no one showed up for these fabulous seats, front row, two left of center.
John Scofield has been an inspiration and favorite of mine since A Go Go, see him if you get the chance. In June I am going to see the Christian Mcbride band with Russel Malone.
Take care all the best.

Great description, JC.
Now we just need the CD to sound out those images.
I wonder where you'd find videos of jazz concerts?
