I'm weighing in on the Fender Deluxe side also; firm believer that any guitar and amp in the right hands will sound good though. (I have 'left hands' apparently!)

I use a Fender Deville (410 version of Deluxe) for blues/rock/fusion stuff and I really like the overall tonality of it, just to let you know.

Nice site, just joined. Looking forward to some good jazz/jazz guitar discussions.
Anyway, I play thru a Groove Tubes Soul-O 45, a great tube amp with a nice, clean tone.
If I could buy another tube amp, I'd get the Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue and look into doing the "blackface" mod to it, maybe some others. 22 watts sounds perfect for me (apt dweller).

I now use a Roland Cube-30. This is the new Modeling Guitar Amp. It is just amazing for all styles of music.

I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for everything. It's a powerful 40 watt amp, has a single 12" speaker and is quite light (under 40 lb.)
