Well looks like a lot of people are fond of their valve amps on this site. I'm about to replace the 6L6 tubes in my Ampeg Superjet 12T as it has begun to act like a random noise generator. My fender Hot Rod Deluxe has had the same 6L6 tubes for years and will need replacements sometime also.
Does anyone have any suggestions for replacements that will sound good for jazz? I've recently heard of Mullard reissues. Has anyone tried these?

I'm not sure about "best for jazz" exactly but I like the Sovtek/Electro Harmonix tubes.

From the experience that I have with fiddling around with my Groove Tubes Sou-o-Single:
Power tubes: Sovtek 6L6WXT have a good price/quality ratio. I use them in a Mesa/Boogie (much better than 5881WXT). Groove Tubes GT-6L6GE are very good and quiet. GT-KT66HP are also fine, but can be noisy in a combo. Avoid big tubes like 6550c or KT88 (too noisy in combos, they rattle). If you are looking for NOS tubes, try to find some RCA 6V6GT, they have a very "jazzy" tone, I love them. Don't forget that the amp would need to be re-biased by a tech!
Good new preamp tubes are a bit more difficult to find. Groove Tubes (again). The Mullard reissues are GT-12AX7M. Electro-Harmonic are also OK. JJ-ECC83S are often recommended. They announce a new ECC83 valve later this year. Avoid the Sovtek 12AX7LPS are fine but too noisy in combos. I have mixed opinions on NOS: if bought from reliable shops, it should be OK, but the risk of getting microphonic or bad tubes is always high. NOS are expensive: Telefunken, Philips, RCA, RFT are the way to go (Mullards are too expensive).
