Seven String

I've become interested in playing a seven string guitar after listening to guitarists like charlie hunter,john pizzarelli and others.
Is there anyone on the forum who has one,or knows a bit about playing such things...the degree of difficulty for instance....
I'd certainly welcome any information in this thread.

which gives history as well as a section about jazzguitarists who play them. I learned that the low string is usually tuned A an octave below string 5, rather than B , which would follow the intervals between the other strings(except 3-2).
