I know it must seem confusing to visitors here, just wanted to explain what's going on.
Shawn (who started this place) came back after a long absence, with the idea of re-doing the whole messageboard elsewhere. His "New Site" announcement is a link to get there, it's already running.
May take awhile, so feel free to use this one however you like. Don't let the revision process stop you from joining and posting if you feel like it, we're all at both places. Hope you find something interesting, if you get one new idea you didn't waste your time.
All suggestions you want to share will be welcomed.

Wow! Now the link to Shawn's new site is not working, it's taking me to "Welcome to phpBB 2 Installation" instead of the parallel universe Jazz Guitar messageboard.

Did they give any reason over at phpBB? Hope the new site can be restored, everybody takes this in stride. Keep us updated, OK?

Haven't checked yet to see if Shawn got the phpBB site back, but his first attempt at revising ( at Invision forumer) is still running. He asked for suggestions there, and I wrote:
"My first suggestion is to add a section to Lessons, called Chords and Rhythm. This is not the same as improv. Some guitarists play mostly lead, some mostly backup.
It would also be nice to have a place for Heads, where threads for individual melody with its chord pattern would be the theme. Ideally, a ready-made staff would be available that you could add key, time signature and notes to, and ready-made chord diagrams to show what you play. "

Also wrote (referring to this place):
"Just an observation about messageboards- it's real important not to leave people hanging. I think that's what happened at the other place. The team didn't respond to new posts, new threads, and the people got frustrated and left. Can you imagine a commitment to post a short note every day, here or at the other place? It's kind of like playing your guitar every day, keeps you into it."

Mahayana is quite right, a daily update from the Team wouldn't hurt. It doesn't have to be a long message just a quick note to let everyone know how things are going.

With the thousands of memebers there, I haven't gotten a response back yet. My hosters (a2webhosting.com) have a bullitin board thing that is phpBB but, it doesn't let the admin reply to posts...so it is quite inoperable in my case. I am still working on it. I am very, very, sorry for everything. I will have everything back...I really hope that the database restore will still work with everything. If not, are you all willing to sign up again as members? I will NOT tell you guys until I know that the new forum is up and bug free. I am so sorry, it is quite stupid of me to do this sort of thing, I appologize, but with web hosting stuff...it gets so complicated. School is out though, so much more time will be spent on it that I can. Thank you all for being as patient as you have. You all are very important to me, in keeping this website to being possible, and I'm working all of my money and effort that I can. A jazz gutiar website/forum integration I think is a wonderful idea, I just wish I knew more about this php stuff than I did before I got into it. oh well, someone has to do it, yes? lol. -Thanks Shawn

I think most of us understand Shawn. And yes, you can count me in to sign up. Hang in there.

I think computer programs are a lot like golf, they can mess with your mind and self-confidence, test how well you handle stress.
So, nobody is really mad about anything, Shawn. The zen saying is "if it's in the way, it's part of the Way." Things have a way of working out.

I used the "new site" link, it's working again. Looks like it wiped the posts, did one odd thing though. It sent me to login when I tried to look around. If there's an option to let visitors read without registering, I'd check that box.
Anyhow, guess we'll see how it does this time. It may take some trial and error time to figure it out.

It should let guests look at posts, but not post...I'll see what you mean.

Hey, thanks for the "Comping" section, Shawn. I've got lots of lessons to put there, some of what I spread around here belonged in that category, really everything about chords and how to use them.
We've got several threads featuring individual songs, what do you think of the "Heads" section idea, in Lessons? "melody and chords, lyrics optional, your ideas for arrangements of Standards or original compositions"
