It seems like they are all very expensive now. The high price doesn't seem to be related to quality. Even the ones with a "lifetime warranty" do not last very long. The expensive ones still look and feel cheap. Who makes a good cable that doesn't cost a ton of money?

I bought an expensive Monster "Jazz" cable that is very thick and has very nice gold plated jacks. It was supposedly voiced for jazz guitar (rolling off highs?). I have noticed that it is somewhat microphonic when it is hit or moved around. That is not a good thing! I have several George L cables, they are very thin cables that you would not think would be robust, but do sound good and I have not had any problems with them.

I've seen George Ls, but I can't stand their style of connectors, and even though their cable is thin, it's still pretty stiff feeling.
BTW, That Monster cable of yours is definitely defective. A cable should never be microphonic when handled.

I agree about the Monster cable, there is definitely something wrong with it and it was close to $50!
I like the George L jacks because you can easily do a solderless connection if something goes wrong on a gig. What don't you like about them? I have both straight and "L" jacks because of the rear mounted Steinberger jack plate, a straight jack will poke you in the gut.

The George Ls have those half-sized phono plug housings, and I just don't like them. I also think they look cheap. I prefer the standard size connectors.

I have a couple of Monster cables a jazz one and a rock one. Can't tell the diff between the two. I think that is a bunch of hype. But, anyway our 6 month old cocker spaniel puppy chewed thru one! And they replaced it at my local dealer. No charge! Gotta love that! ;D Lifetime waranty.

Well, I must have a pretty crappy ear because I can't tell the difference from one cord to another. Maybe I could on a direct comparison. To me the important thing is getting the music out. Cords just aren't relevant because I can get the sound and tone I want from any cord, short of a defective one. As a consequence I buy the cheapest ones I can find.
