Here's a ditty I posted over at the acoustic guitar forum. They were sharing their fingerstyle arrangements of the country classic Freight Train. Someone asked about a jazzier version and I offered this quick little offering.
Almost every melody note is harmonized.
XX2233 X3X200 5X553X 4X45XX 3X34XX XXXXX3 X5656X Freight Train Freight Train goin' so fast
X5X565 X5656X 4X455X 3X343X X3221X XX2233 X3X000 Freight Train Freight Train goin' so fast
0X6X5X 7X776X 0X675X 6X67XX 5X55XX XXXX3X 4X45XX Please don't tell what train I'm on
XXX4XX XXX2XX 0220XX X0X010 XXXXX0 XX0120 3X320X X3221X so they won't know where I'm gone
Much of this would be played rubato but it can be played up to time as well. Just a little sample of an alternative way to play the tune. Enjoy!
Oh, I will have this in powertab and tabledit for those who prefer that format.
**Okay, I can see there is a problem once I edited it. The words don't line up with the chords. Just remember that each cluster represents one word of the song.
