Well, it's that time of year again, school's out! ;D ;D ;D So what are your plans for the summer? Anybody going to a jazz camp? Vacation? Cool gigs? I've got quite a bunch of stuff planned. Tomorrow, Mrs. Professor are going to the zoo. In a few weeks, we're going to San Antonio for a brief trip. I've got tons of stuff to do around the house, and I have a chart I want to write for the band I'm in. I've got some teaching to do and a class to take in mid-July. What do you guys have planned? Anybody going to Disneyland?

The wife and I took a trip to East Texas last week, between Tyler/Longview/Mt.Pleasant. Thinking of buying some property there. Beautiful area.

Well, graduated college so school is officially out for me. I might get my masters out of state somewhere along the road but right now I need to get into the "real world."
So I'm taking the next month or so to polish my portfolio and resume and take it to shop.
The thing I'm excited about though is my bands, All Things Lucid, upcoming album. We should have that finished and ready to be pressed (or mass duplicated what ever you want to say) by the end of the summer. Then maybe a mid west tour.
I'm also playing bass with my brothers band that does a bunch of lounge tunes Mancini and Esquivel type stuff. We used to play semi regularly then had a long hiatus but now found the perfect spot for us to play so we'll probably play once a month or so.
No big trips, but I think I've got enough on my plate.

good luck with the album Slowpoke......if it sells in large quantities it'll be fantastic...if not, it's still a great accomplishment,.....and valuable experience. does your brother's "lounge type" band get lounge type gigs? I managed to get a finger bruised up somewhat while collecting rocks for a rock garden......so I'm out of playing for a week......feels kinda strange not playing........

yea, last time we went into a local studio (for 5 songs) but this time we're doing it ourself. our bass player has done quite a bit of recording so it's nice to have that control. we also want to have a somewhat elaborate photo for the album art, i'm excited about that.
the place the lounge band (space age lounge, in fact) is playing now is some sort of tiki bar. they've got 50s/60s decor so tha'ts why it works so well.
sorry to hear about the injury, it is strange when you're actually unable to play. i don't like the forced breaks. sometimes i don't even like planned ones. the good things is you'll pick up your instrument a little differently when you're all healed.

yeah,...you're right,slowpoke...a little break from playing might be all to the good......in fact after this afternoon's xray I'll know if it is a 'little break'..or not...... does the lounge band actually play 50's music?
