I have a nice Les Paul junior special that has Gibson's P-100 humbuckers in it. I don't really like them, they have no bass response. So I ordered some Semour Duncan P-90s for it. Yes, they are single coils, and there will be some noise, but I also have some Fender guitars, and I can live with it. I never hear it when I'm playing anyway.
So, I'm hoping to be able to get a bit more versatility from this guitar. It didn't have enough lows for jazz work, and I hope that will change. So I ordered a vintage style P-90. The tones from the bridge pickup were too shrill to be much use either. I'm hoping for a less bright, more throaty growl. So, I ordered a "hot" P-90.
Should be ready sometime next week, depending on my workload, and when the parts arrive.

Yes! They totally rock!
Sorry, I forgot to update. The neck pup is very warm and rich and full of harmonics, the bridge pup is more mid-rangey and has alot of bark. With distortion, the tone is a buttery smooth overdrive on the neck and a snarling wail on the bridge...just perfect for blues and rock.
