Hi all
I'm thinking of buying a 2001 Heritage H-335 guitar. Unfortunately its not in my city so I would have to buy it sight unseen. Can anyone give me some advice on these guitars. How do they compare say to an Ibanez semi of the Gibson 335 that they emulate.
I'm aware that Heritage are ex-Gibson folk, but I'm not sure about the quality of the electronics that they use. replacement pickups are very expensive here in Australia.
I play jazz mostsly, so any comments on Heritage 575 hollow guitars?

Everything I've heard says they're actually better than their Gibson counterparts. Even so, the resale value is terrible. My experience with ES-335s is that they vary all over the place in quality, feel, tone, playability, and weight. Weight is particularly a problem with the Gibson 335s nowadays. Most that I've seen lately are LP Custom HEAVY.
That said, you really need to put your hands on such an expensive guitar before you pay for it. Even if they let you return it, the freight alone can be several hundred dollars.

Hi Professor,
Well I took the risk, but minimised it after making quite a few phone calls to both the supplier and the Heritage factory, who incidentally, were more than helpful.
The guitar needed some work to the nut but now plays absolutely beautifully. It has a Seymour Duncan jazz neck pickup, and JB bridge and seriously, the tone is very woody and open. It is, more or less, a custom shop Gibson 335 but I really haven't seen a new Gibson, or affordable older one, that appealed enough to buy. Not to mention the almost double price.
I find I'm better suited to the shorter scale neck and have been playing this guitar every day for a couple of months now.
Less risky than an ebay purchase, but I've got a guitar that I think will last me a very long time indeed.

I just came from Classic Axe (manassas, VA) and they had a couple of Heritage gtrs up there. I must say that just from tinkering around with the model i played with, I really REALLY liked it... better than the Gibson ES they had hanging on the wall.
