hi, new to the forum and needing help. I was wondering what experiences any of you might have had with early 50's epiphone archtop electric guitars... the ones with the new york pick ups like the zephyr regent deluxe and similar. I believe the 50s epi's have laminate tops for electric guitars and solid tops for the acoustics, is this the case? What are your experiences of the new york pick ups? My sonic ballpark is roughly in the wes, kenny burrell type sound and I am addicted to vintage guitars (personal quirk 'fraid, i just don't like new guitars, i know i'm a nostalgic fool but it's the way i am!). However, i don't have the budget or desire to get into the L5 or Super 400 line of things and I am looking for cheaper vintage alternatives. Any help most greatly appreciated.
