Hey, Dirk. I'm just trying to say hi to everyone that might still be here. I'll check out the link. I have years of Guitar Player mags, some of the articles and examples have inspired, particularly what little jazz is in there.
So, what is your preference for improv? I generally goof with the melody, don't get off on scale fragments or repetitive licks. Is there a ballad you like to mess with? I have hundreds, learned every Beatles song as they came out, have been learning "standards" for years now. Do you know "Locomotive Breath" Jethro Tull? It was a ripoff from Stanley Turrentine's Joyride album, really simple blues. That's the kind of thing I play along with, when I'm not chording "Blue in Green" or some other ridiculous pattern. Do you have a sax player you jam with?
