Recently, I suggested to myself to first learn something on guitar (especially something theoretical that is taught at a lesson) that way you understand the note-wise of things and can't rely on patterns and have to think... plus you get it down in your head much quickly than approaching it cold-turkey.
Just a thought I think I'll start doing... and not too bad. Everyone needs to know piano.

Hmmm...are you saying, first learn something theoretical on the piano?
It's certainly easier to see the notes in extended chords that way.

Yes, theoretical, other than that I guess it just becomes practice on the piano... LOL. Otherwise I'd use guitar for arranging, improvising (other than a new technique or newbies to improvising).
